Please contact SavoringRhodeIsland@gmail.com for more information on these step-on guide services.

1.  Federal Hill — Providence's Italian Neighborhood

Federal Hill has been the center of business and culture for Providence's Italian population since the late 1800's. The Hill features numerous restaurants and shops, recognized as among the finest Rhode Island has to offer. Our tour visits traditional and modern bakeries, the wine shop that brought Italian wines and spirits to New England, butchers and poultry markets, and specialty food markets.

During this one-hour guided tour service on Federal Hill, your guides will...

  • Meet your group on DePasquale Plaza
  • Provide a presentation of the culture and history of Federal Hill
  • Pay a visit to two Italian specialty stores
  • Provide lessons and small tastings of extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) and Balsamic Vinegar
  • Give the group pointers on other venues to visit on Federal Hill
  • Offer a Q&A time — Cooking Italian Style
  • Provide maps with shopping and lunch recommendations

3. Historic Chepachet — A "Way Up Country" Village

Chepachet was a bustling mill village and trading center during the 18th and 19th centuries. It is now home to a delightful assortment of narrow lanes and a main street dotted with antique shops, wineries, cafes, fun restaurants, and one of America's oldest country stores in continuous operation -- complete with penny candy!

Meet the unofficial "mayor" of Chepachet, sip some wine, discover the perfect antique, and dine at a 1700's tavern.
